Savas leather

  1. I just learned about this shop in Nashville, not too far away from me. But it seems they charge a premium for the coats they make, and they don't really look like at $4k range. That's European brand money and their coats seem only decent.

I've had some rather unpleasant experience with the current leather brands. A few months ago I spent $2700 trying to customize a coat for my lady from West Coast Leather in San Francisco, whose manager claimed to be the successor of the famous North Beach Leather, since he bought off the assets of NBL when the latter went bust... Long story short, we waited for three months, and they made a very flimsy coat. I specifically requested it to be sturdy, waxy and highly squeaky. We were refunded at the end, but I am really disappointed by these brands nowadays.

Danier's products are flimsy now, bought a leather jumpsuit for my lady, it felt cheap and we returned it. Wilson's lineup looks like a cheap wholesale.
We bought a Armani leather dress once on the Emporio Armani website, made in India and smelled cheap. Bought a new Trussardi leather trench online, also made in India, felt like the plastic dashboard from an old GM car, nothing waxy or squeaky, returned it too.
Bought a $5400 long leather dress from Gucci, the same style worn by Dua Lipa. It was made in Italy, but the leather also felt mediocre, nothing premium, we kept it anyway. It seems the celebrity/runway edition was better and shinier.

Nonetheless, the newer leather fashions seem to be a farcry from the late 90's to early 2000's. Even European brands and items made in Europe feel mediocre, nothing good enough to really excite me when they are no longer shiny, waxy or squeaky. As a millennial, I am not impressed by "my time". Right now, we are buying some early 2000's collector pieces that also cost a few thousands like the new ones, but they feel so much better.
