The black leather trench still evokes The Matrix

The Frame trench is the only long black leather coat by a big label that I have really seen advertised this fall/winter season.  Incidentally it is SOLD OUT at this store http://www.fwrd.com/product-denim-leather-trench-coat/FRAM-WO14/?d=Womens&itrownum=30&itcurrpage=2&itview=01&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=cj&source=cj&utm_campaign=glob_p_1909792# so it must have enjoyed some popularity among fashionable women who could afford to spend over $1600 on a coat.  This is a good sign for leather fashion.

However, even after a decade, fashion critics still equate the long leather coat with The Matrix.  Kendall Jenner earns the jab in her Frame trench here http://www.capitalfm.com/features/week-photos/27-february-2017/kendall-jenner/ and again http://blog.colourfulrebel.com/en/thanks-to-kendall-jenner-and-bella-hadid-the-matrix-look-is-making-a-comeback/  I understand that the critcs are referring to the sunglasses as well, but it is undeniably the black leather coat that makes the look so perilous for women still.

Thanks to Adrian Thomas for bringing her to my attention.  It is great to see a celebrity fashionista wearing this beloved favorite coat, but alas she is quite extraordinary in doing so; unlike twenty years ago when you couldn't swing a Prada bag in a big city without hitting a woman in a leather coat.  Let's hope Bella's style sense catches on in mainstream fashion.
