More Perfect than before

"In 2005 I had the idea to write a story about a lady in a leather coat as a series of short stories much like the encounters I have posted in this blog.  All of the encounters are with the same gorgeous lady named Blair Chadwick and she elicits various responses from people everywhere she goes.  Men and women alike react to the woman in the long leather coat.  Not only does she induce awe, admiration, and lust; but also envy, disapproval, and even contempt."

It has been over ten years since I wrote this story and I had not looked at it in a long time. I started rereading it again last week and decided to re-post it in segments after doing some editing. I would like to think that my singular writing style has improved a little in the past decade and I will try to make this story less clunky and better flowing.

One thing that struck me on going through Perfect from a fresh perspective was the rather harsh nature of it. Blair really is an ice-cold snob. I tried to provide a little more background to her character in the revision I posted, but Blair is a woman that one can only love to hate. On reflection, I think Blair represented much of my frustration trying to meet women as a young man combined with the lady in the leather coat that I fantasized about. I had only been dating the beautiful woman who became my wife for less than a year when I started writing Perfect. She has since dispelled many of my former misconceptions about unattainable women and I have grown a little wiser about life as well. Ha!
