Introducing "The Cameo of Aveline"

Daydream for pleasure’s sake, fervent reader, of a beautiful woman; a gorgeous lady of sleek feminine sophistication who may have strutted past you on a city sidewalk sometime between the last quarter of the twentieth century and the first decade of the new millennium.  She poses a striking silhouette with a big black hat cocked glamorously upon her dark flowing hair and a sweeping coat of gleaming black leather buttoned close about her statuesque figure.  Her ivory complexion is ageless, her sable eyes dazzle, and the smile on her sensual red lips is irresistible.  Poised, brilliant, and intimidatingly self-assured, she is a capricious heartbreaker adored by men and envied by women.  A gypsy, a ballerina, a baroness, a scholar, a secret agent, and lately an entrepreneur; her career has been far-flung.  She introduces herself as Maxy Coates, cosmopolitan owner of an upscale antique shop in Manhattan.  Within the popped collar of her blouse a Victorian pendant glimmers on a strand of pearls, bearing the portrait of a mysterious young woman carved upon a carnelian gemstone.  It is the Cameo of Aveline; the one clue to her forgotten past, and her search for its provenance takes her around the world.  From ancient ruins to eastern bazaars to high-class auctions she ventures, her high heels clicking with seamless aplomb.  Many priceless treasures does she hold in her gloved hands, but only when the secret of her jewel is in her grasp will she ever be satisfied.  Follow the lady in the leather coat now as she swishes away on a voluptuously rollicking escapade.
